Richard Eurich RA, NEAC (1903-1992)

Painter and draughtsman, born in Bradford, Yorkshire. Studied art at the Slade from 1924 - 26 and later lived at Dibden Purlieu, near Southampton where he painted views of the sea, ships, ports and beach life in the surrounding area.

His first one-man show of paintings was held at the Redfern Gallery in 1933. During World War II he worked as an official war artist attached to the Admiralty and works from this period are now in the Tate Gallery, Imperial War Museum, National Maritime Museum at Greenwich and many provincial galleries.

From 1949 he taught for a short period at Camberwell. Elected to the Royal Academy in 1953. In 2003 Eurich's centenary was commemorated with a touring show of his paintings in the UK.
