The considerable achievements of Yale, much over looked owing to his long standing career with the Greater London Council, prove him to be a versatile and resilient artist with a deep social conscience.

A Staffordshire-born painter and sculptor, Yale studied at Stourbridge School of Art from 1952-6, and the Royal College of Art, 1958-62. He was a founder member of the Group One Four, dedicated to promoting art to a wider public. From 1968 to 1986, Yale worked for the Greater London Council. During this time he designed murals, sculptures and public art works for GLC housing estates and schools.

Yale also received commissions from the British Council to paint in international locations including Israel and Yugoslavia.

His work forms a part of important public collections including, the Tate, Arts Council of Great Britain, Welsh Arts Council, Imperial War Museum, Museum of London, Whitworth Art Gallery, and Manchester among others.
